ISO/TC204 Transport Information and Control Systems
SAE maintains the International Secretariat of the ISO/TC204, Transport Information and Control Systems, and also provides support for ISO/TC204/WG 13 that deals with Human Factors and Man-Machine Interface issues, and U.S. Working Advisory Groups to ISO/TC204/WGs 3, 10, 11 and 13. Standardization efforts of ISO/TC204 are harmonized with the ongoing efforts of CEN/TC278, Road Transport and Traffic Telematics, resulting in parallel development of global standards. Scope:
ISO/TC204 is responsible for the standardization of information, communication, and control systems in the field of urban and rural surface transportation, including intermodal and multimodal aspects, public transport, commercial transport, emergency services and commercial services in the transport information and control systems (TICS) field. Excluded from the committees expertise is in-vehicle transport information and control systems, which is in the scope of ISO/TC22.
The ISO/TC204 is responsible for the overall system aspects and infrastructure aspects of transport information and control systems (TICS) as well as the co-ordination of the overall ISO work programme in this field including the schedule for standards development, taking into account the work of existing international standardisation bodies.
ISO/TC204 and CEN TC/278 co-operate for work in the RFID arena. See TC/278 page for more information.
